Tirzepatide is a dual GIP + GLP-1 receptor agonist; Semaglutide acts on GLP-1 only. In comparative trials (SURPASS-2), tirzepatide showed stronger HbA1c and weight outcomes versus semaglutide at comparable doses. Both are 39-amino-acid synthetic peptides.
